Dark Era 13
I pulled out a canvas and put my brush into the paints. I stared at my sketch of the flower patch and started painting. After about 2 hours I took a break. I inspected my work, and was very pleased with it. The actual paintings looked really good compared to the sketches! I breathed a sigh of relief and sank back into my chair.I finished 3 paintings for the competition that week. Katie came over on Monday to get a ride to school. When she saw them she took a sharp breath in. "Oh Faith! They look amazing!" She almost dropped it when she grabbed my arm. "Watch it! You do want them to get to school right?" I said. Katie laughed, "Yes, sorry. But...they're just so great! Like, with the colors, it makes them look 100 times better! Not that they weren't great in the first place." Katie said hurridly. On the ride to school Katie asked, "What is the prize for the art competition anyway?" "You get a really cool workshop with these really cool proffesionals. Some of my favorite artists are gonna be there." I said excitedly. "Oh! Wouldn't that be cool if you got it?!" Katie said, equally excited. We got out of the car and loaded the paintings out.
As me & Katie walked into the art classroom, Mrs.Tillman helped us carry the 3 paintings. "Faith! These are wonderful! I wouldn't be suprised if you got first place!" Mrs.Tillman said. "Thank you."I said, smiling modestly. "I'm sincerely looking forward to the competition day!" Mrs.Tillman said happily. As me and Katie were walking out, Amy Carson walked into the room. With 2 paintings in her hands. She showed them to Mrs.Tillman, who praised them highly. Though with not much enthusiasm as when she was talking to me.
I couldn't wait for the day! I wanted to all the artwork, and also see who got the prize! But...would it get it? Would the judges find my pieces just as inexperienced as Mrs. Tillman found them???
